Tweenshot is a browser extension that takes screenshots and captures element animations. It is built so that nothing you capture leaves your device.
What Tweenshot collects
Nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising. The extension makes no network requests; its pages are locked to local resources by their Content Security Policy, and all of its code ships inside the package.
What stays on your device
- Captures (images, animation frames, element specs and your notes) are stored in the extension's own IndexedDB in your browser profile. Only the most recent captures are kept (40 by default, adjustable in Settings). You can delete them one by one or all at once from the popup.
- Files you export are saved to your Downloads folder (Downloads/Tweenshot/ by default).
- Settings are stored with chrome.storage.local.
- When you copy a capture, it goes to your system clipboard.
When it runs
Only after you start a capture from the toolbar button, the popup or a keyboard shortcut, and only in that tab. It has no access to any site before that (no host permissions).
Sensitive content
Exports carry the page address without its query string and # part, which can hold tokens; you can choose to include only the site's domain. Element specs remove <script> tags and on* attributes, and replace form values, secret-looking attributes (tokens, keys, session ids) and URL query strings with [redacted] or drop them.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|

scripting | Load the picker and capture panel into that tab |
tabCapture offscreen | Read that tab's picture frame by frame, locally |

storage unlimitedStorage | Keep settings and recent captures on this device |
Children
Tweenshot is a general-purpose tool and collects no data from anyone.
